Job summary

Blackpool Council is seeking a Client Finances Specialist to oversee day-to-day operations within the Revenues, Benefits & Customer Services team. You will ensure efficient financial management for clients who lack capacity, acting as DWP Appointee or Deputy in appropriate cases.

The role requires strong communication, policy development, staff supervision, and experience with the benefits system and relevant legislation. A supervisory qualification or progress toward one is expected.

Qualifications

• Excellent written and verbal communication skills are essential.
• Good time management skills are required for a busy team environment.
• Experience or willingness to obtain supervisory qualifications is required.
• Ability to train new staff and support colleagues across a multi-system environment.
• Knowledge of appointeeships and deputyships and the benefits system is important.

Responsibilities

• Provide day-to-day oversight and support to the Client Finances team.
• Develop and implement policies and procedures to improve service delivery.
• Work with social workers, care providers and external agencies to safeguard clients' interests.
• Lead staff training and development; supervise and mentor team members.
• Ensure compliance with PSN, DBS checks and legal working requirements.
