Job summary

Amentum is seeking a Radiation Protection Consultant to join the Radiation Protection & Characterisation team. You will support a diverse client base with practical protection, audits, and training while developing toward RPA2000 certification.

You will work closely with RPAs, travel UK sites, and help deliver clear, compliant Local Rules and risk assessments for varied industries.

Qualifications

• Practical experience in radiation protection, health physics or related field.
• Degree in a scientific, engineering or radiation protection discipline.
• Knowledge of IRR17 and related guidance.
• Experience with radiation risk assessments or Local Rules.
• Strong technical report writing and ability to communicate with clients.

Responsibilities

• Support delivery of radiation protection services to a diverse client base.
• Carry out audits, inspections and site visits under RPA oversight.
• Identify non-compliance, and provide actionable recommendations.
• Assist with development of risk assessments, Local Rules and procedures.
• Produce clear, robust reports and support training activities.
• Build client relationships and act as day-to-day contact for radiation matters.
• Work with certificated RPAs and escalate when needed.
• Support monitoring activities and instrumentation selection.
• Maintain project records and assist with tenders and proposals.
