Job summary

Bennett & Game Recruitment is seeking a Client Accountant to independently manage a portfolio of around 200 SME and contractor-led clients. This role is office-based with hybrid flexibility after probation, focusing on review, sign-off, and strategic advisory.

You will work with assistants who prepare initial work, then provide technical oversight, tax insight, and sustain long-term client relationships. AAT/ACCA qualifications are preferred.

Qualifications

• 2–3 years of experience in accountancy practice handling client portfolios.
• AAT qualified or ACCA/CTA part-qualified/qualified.
• Strong end-to-end understanding of statutory accounts, tax returns, and client advisory for small businesses.
• Outstanding communication skills, both written and verbal.

Responsibilities

• Manage a portfolio of ~200 small-to-medium clients, using cloud accounting software (FreeAgent).
• Review financial accounts, company tax, VAT, and personal tax returns prepared by the assistant team, ensuring accuracy.
• Provide tailored business advice and maintain strong client relationships throughout their lifecycle.
• Offer clear guidance on tax efficiency, payroll, and general financial management.
• Collaborate with the team to meet statutory filing dates and monthly deadlines.
