The role
The Client Accountant is responsible for ensuring the Client Accounting and Financial Reporting for our Client(s) is managed in an effective and timely manner in accordance with Client requirements.
The objective of the role is to:
- Ensure that all Client and property accounting services are delivered to a consistently high standard and to the service levels required by the Client;
- Maintain complete and up-to-date records and financial management, including applying accounting regulations, query management, service charge management, reconciliations, capex, opex, and other Client-specific procedures;
- Work with surveyors, Clients, and other team members on the most appropriate actions to resolve queries;
- Support contractual compliance across the team, including performing within the SLAs and KPIs on behalf of BNPPRE;
- Assist in continuously improving processes for market-leading best practice financial management and in accordance with all relevant legislation.
Responsibilities
- Work on a broad range of projects, referring to senior colleagues/external specialists on highly unusual or technical issues;
- Specialist in one aspect of own discipline with broad knowledge of related disciplines;
- Enhance BNP Paribas Real Estate's reputation through successful delivery;
- Develop, implement, and improve processes and procedures to meet service delivery standards;
- Work with internal audit and compliance to meet all requirements;
- Participate in controls of activities;
- Collaborate with management to improve efficiency, effectiveness, and control of daily work;
- Act as the principal contact for Clients, surveyors, and other relevant parties regarding accounting service delivery;
- Monitor and produce client accounting records, including statements, P&L, balance sheets, VAT, tax reporting, charges, reconciliations, CIS, rent deposits, and bank reconciliations;
- Ensure services are delivered as per the contract;
- Attend client meetings, understand their needs, and respond appropriately;
- Work with team members on structuring records and achieving reporting goals;
- Ensure Quality Assurance reviews are completed before issue;
- Assist in internal and external audits.
Person specification
Qualifications
- Qualified or part-qualified in a recognised accounting qualification (CIMA, ACCA) or qualified through experience;
- GCSE qualifications including Maths and English.
Experience
- Highly numerate with strong attention to detail and excellent communication skills;
- Experience in an accounting team within property management or similar environment;
- Experience in bookkeeping, financial reporting, operations, and controls;
- Tenacious, professional, adaptable, and self-motivated;
- Understanding of accounting techniques and data protection;
- Knowledge of general ledger transactions is advantageous;
- Customer service-oriented and deadline-driven;
- Commercially astute and solutions-oriented;
- Organised, methodical, and able to handle multiple projects;
- Proficient in Microsoft Office, experience with property management/accounting packages like Trace Tramps, Yardi Propware/Voyager, Qube Horizon is a plus.
