The role
The Client Accountant is responsible for managing the Client Accounting and Financial Reporting for our Client(s) effectively and in a timely manner, in accordance with Client requirements.
The objectives of the role include:
- Ensuring all Client and property accounting services are delivered to high standards and meet the service levels required by the Client;
- Maintaining complete and up-to-date records and financial management, including applying accounting regulations, query management, service charge management, reconciliations, capex, opex, and other Client-specific procedures;
- Collaborating with surveyors, Clients, and team members to resolve queries efficiently;
- Supporting contractual compliance across the team, including meeting SLAs and KPIs on behalf of BNPPRE;
- Continuously improving processes for market-leading financial management in accordance with relevant legislation.
Responsibilities
- Handling a broad range of projects, consulting with senior colleagues or external specialists on complex or technical issues;
- Specializing in one aspect of the discipline while maintaining broad knowledge of related principles and practices;
- Enhancing BNP Paribas Real Estate's reputation through successful delivery;
- Developing, implementing, and refining processes to meet service delivery standards for clients;
- Working with internal audit and compliance to ensure all requirements are met;
- Participating in activity controls;
- Improving efficiency, effectiveness, and control of daily work with management;
- Serving as the main contact for Clients, surveyors, and relevant parties regarding accounting services;
- Monitoring and producing client records, including statements, P&L, balance sheets, VAT, charges, reconciliations, and query responses;
- Ensuring services are delivered per contract agreements;
- Attending client meetings to understand and respond to their needs;
- Structuring accounting records and achieving reporting goals with team members;
- Ensuring Quality Assurance reviews are completed before issuance;
- Assisting with internal and external audits of financial info, procedures, and controls.
Person specification
Qualifications
- Qualified or part-qualified in a recognized accounting qualification (CIMA, ACCA) or qualified through experience;
- GCSE qualifications including Maths and English.
Experience
- Numerate with strong attention to detail and excellent communication skills;
- Experience in an accounting team within property management or similar environment;
- Experience in bookkeeping, financial reporting, operations, and controls;
- Tenacious, presentable, assertive, adaptable, self-aware, and self-motivated;
- Conscientious with an understanding of accounting and data protection;
- Knowledge of accounting techniques, including general ledger transactions, is advantageous;
- Committed to excellent customer service and meeting deadlines;
- Commercially astute, innovative, and solutions-oriented;
- Organized, methodical, able to manage multiple projects and deadlines;
- Proficient in Microsoft Office (Excel, Word, Outlook); experience with property management/accounting packages (e.g., Trace Tramps, Yardi, Voyager, Qube Horizon) is a plus.
