Job summary

The position offers hybrid work with two office days per week and potential move towards full remote practice once established with clients.

Qualifications

• Experience working in a UK accountancy practice.
• Experience preparing accounts for SME and owner-managed businesses.
• Good understanding of VAT, bookkeeping and practice accounts.
• AAT qualification or ACCA/ACA part qualification, or equivalent experience.

Responsibilities

• Manage a portfolio of SME and owner-managed clients.
• Prepare year-end accounts for limited companies, sole traders and partnerships.
• Complete VAT returns, management accounts and tax returns.
• Speak directly with clients, handling queries and providing practical accountancy advice.
• Assist clients with bookkeeping and their accounting systems.
• Build strong, long-term relationships and be a trusted contact for your clients.
• Work with the wider team to ensure a high level of service.

If you're working in practice and looking for a role where you can take on more responsibility, manage your own portfolio and build stronger client relationships, this could be a great opportunity.

We're working with an established and growing general practice in Buckinghamshire who are looking to add an Accountant to their team. It's a friendly, supportive firm with a strong focus on client relationships, giving people responsibility and helping their team progress.

You'll work with a varied portfolio of mainly SME and owner-managed businesses, covering a broad mix of accounts, tax and general practice work. This is a genuinely client-facing role, so you'll be speaking with clients regularly, understanding their businesses and becoming a trusted point of contact rather than simply preparing accounts behind the scenes.

The role is hybrid, with 2 days a week in the office, with the option to move towards a fully remote setup once you've settled into the role and built relationships with your clients.

What you'll be doing

What we're looking for

• * Previous experience within a UK accountancy practice.
• * Experience preparing accounts for SME and owner-managed businesses.
• * A good understanding of VAT, bookkeeping and general practice accounts.
• * AAT qualified, ACCA/ACA part-qualified or qualified, or someone who has built their experience through practice.
• * Confident communicating directly with clients and comfortable managing your own portfolio.
