Job summary

The Scottish Federation of Housing Associations is seeking a qualified Clerk of Works to deliver services across new build and cyclical projects. You will be responsible for ensuring compliance with specifications and standards during construction.

Applicants should have a construction or civil engineering qualification at HNC level, expertise in housing maintenance, and knowledge of Scottish building regulations. A valid driving license and access to a vehicle for business use are required.

Qualifications

• Qualification in construction or civil engineering at HNC level, SCQF Level 7 or above.
• Experience in housing repair or maintenance is essential.
• Knowledge of relevant Scottish building standards required.

Responsibilities

• Deliver Clerk of Works services throughout various construction projects.
• Ensure compliance with specifications and conduct regular inspections.
• Liaise with contractors and manage contract documentation.

Responsibilities

• Delivering Clerk of Works services at all stages of a variety of new build, capital and cyclical projects
• Ensuring compliance of works with relevant specifications and legislation
• Monitoring quality control and workmanship
• Carrying out regular inspections of work in progress to ensure that:
  • The contractor executes works in accordance with the agreed contract
  • Methods of construction are satisfactory
  • Appropriate tenant liaison is in place
  • Progress is monitored and reported appropriately
  • Liaising with contractors and maintaining contract documentation, including instruction and advice note issues

Qualifications

• Qualification in construction, civil engineering or a related field at HNC level, SCQF Level 7 or above
• Experience in housing repair or maintenance
• Knowledge of Scottish Building Technical Standards, NHBC, SHQS and EESSH requirements

Other Requirements

An awareness of the challenges housing associations are currently facing would be helpful, but is not necessary.
