Projects will largely involve new builds and refurbishments, with a strong emphasis on residential sector projects.

As a Clerk of Works, you should demonstrate the ability to oversee building works in progress on newly built residential sites.

A good knowledge of current Building Regulations and Warranty provider standards is required.

This role covers the Bristol and Exeter area, and suitable candidates will ideally reside in the South West.

Responsibilities and Duties
  1. Act as the principal point of contact with the social housing client regarding construction quality on site.
  2. Demonstrate strong analytical and problem-solving skills to resolve issues early and ensure stakeholder satisfaction with the construction quality and end product.
  3. Manage multiple social housing projects simultaneously, employing excellent time management strategies.
  4. Visit multiple sites regularly using the provided company car.
  5. Provide detailed reports and photographs to the administration team after each site inspection for timely reporting and follow-up.
  6. Have a good understanding of the building and housing industry, including technical and construction awareness, materials, trades, methods, and legal requirements.
  7. Maintain good communication skills and a diplomatic manner to build and sustain relationships with clients, contractors, subcontractors, and colleagues.
Desired Skills and Experience
  1. Experience in a similar construction role, such as Clerk of Works, Employers Agent, Building Control/Warranty Inspector.
  2. Previous work with social housing organizations, consultancies, or building contractors/housebuilders is highly desirable.
  3. Good knowledge of building regulations and the ability to read construction drawings.
  4. Proficiency in Microsoft Office 360 (Word, Outlook, Excel).
  5. Excellent communication and interpersonal skills.
  6. Great attention to detail and good time management.
  7. Strong client-facing skills, with demonstrable experience preferred.
Qualifications/Educational Requirements
  1. ICWIC accreditation as a Clerk of Works is beneficial; other designations like CIOB, CABE, RICS, IFE will also be considered.
  2. A formal qualification in construction, engineering, or project management is advantageous.
