Job summary

Lancaster City Council is recruiting a Street Cleansing Operative to keep Lancaster’s streets, parks and public spaces clean, safe, and welcoming. You will perform litter collection, graffiti removal, leaf clearance and seasonal duties while operating sweepers and vans.

This role requires a full, clean driving licence and the ability to work outdoors in all weather conditions. You will engage with the public in a friendly, professional manner and follow health and safety procedures, maintaining

What You'll Be Doing

You'll be involved in a variety of tasks including litter collection, fly tipping clearance, graffiti removal, and leaf clearance. Operating mechanical sweepers and cage vans, you'll maintain cleanliness across the district. You'll also handle dog faeces removal, street furniture cleaning, and seasonal duties like snow clearance and gritting. Engaging politely with the public, you'll ensure a positive community experience while following health and safety procedures and maintaining accurate records.
