Job summary

Royal Trinity Hospice is seeking a Cleaning Team Leader to supervise the Housekeeping and Laundry Teams, ensuring a clean, safe and welcoming environment for patients, visitors and staff.

This permanent, full-time role (37.5 hours/week) requires supervision experience, strong hygiene knowledge and excellent communication. The post is based on-site within the hospice and offers NHS-aligned benefits and a supportive team culture.

Qualifications

  • Demonstrated supervisory experience in cleaning, housekeeping or laundry services.
  • Excellent communication and interpersonal skills with a professional manner.
  • Ability to build relationships and deliver high-quality, responsive service.
  • Expertise in cleaning and hygiene practices to highest standards.
  • Strong knowledge of COSHH, Infection Control and Health & Safety requirements.
  • Highly organised and able to manage multiple priorities.
  • Experience working with clinical teams to meet patient room standards.
  • Compliance with hospice policies and regulations.

Responsibilities

Hours: Full time (37.5 hours/week) worked 5 days out of 7 including weekends, on a rota basis.
Contract: Permanent

We have an exciting opportunity for an exceptional individual to join our facilities team as a Cleaning Team Leader.

As Team Leader, you will supervise the Housekeeping and Laundry Teams to ensure our hospice environment remains clean, safe, and welcoming.

Responsibilities include
  • Lead and deliver an effective cleaning operation ensuring systems and processes are efficient and aligned with organisational goals.
  • Support the Head of Facilities with the delivery of the annual health & safety and infection prevention control audits, working collaboratively with consultants and staff to achieve high standards of safety at the hospice.
  • Manage housekeeping equipment and stock efficiently and effectively, meeting the required Trinity standards and fulfil all statutory and regulatory obligations.
  • In conjunction with Head of Facilities and Health & Safety Consultants, to ensure the internal and external environment is safe and that all relevant risk management activities (including incident management system) are completed to required standards.
  • Manage and develop staff members in the housekeeping team.
Skills and experience required
  • Demonstrated experience in a supervisory role within cleaning, housekeeping, or laundry services, preferably in healthcare or hospitality settings.
  • Excellent communication and interpersonal skills, with a professional and approachable manner.
  • Ability to build and maintain positive working relationships across teams, ensuring a high-quality, responsive service for patients, visitors, and staff.
  • Expertise in cleaning and hygiene practices, ensuring tasks are performed to the highest standard.
  • Strong knowledge of workplace regulations, including COSHH, Infection Control, and Health and Safety requirements.
  • Highly organised, reliable, and able to manage multiple priorities effectively.
  • Experience working with clinical teams to ensure patient rooms meet required standards.
  • Commitment to compliance with all hospice policies and statutory regulations for safe and hygienic clinical operations.
  • Competent in Microsoft Office packages.
