Job summary

Northumbria Healthcare NHS Foundation Trust is seeking a Cleaning Operative to join its domestic team. You will contribute to keeping wards, corridors and offices clean and safe for patients, visitors and staff, including handling routine cleaning tasks and spillages.

The role supports the NHS’s commitment to high cleanliness standards and requires basic numeracy/literacy and prior cleaning experience; vacancies include morning and afternoon shifts within the NHS facilities network.

Responsibilities

• Clean floor areas by vacuuming, mopping, buffing and spray cleaning.
• Undertake deep cleans in areas where infection is present.
• Remove rubbish including domestic and clinical waste to disposal point.
• Clean sanitary areas, toilets, sinks, shower cubicles and staff changing areas.
• Damp dust all surfaces, ledges and shelves.
• Clean internal glass surfaces.
• Maintain high cleanliness standards across all areas.
• Carry out urgent spot cleaning and spillages.
• Attend training on efficiency, hygiene, and health and safety.

Job description

• Cleaning of floor areas as scheduled by means of vacuuming, mopping, buffing and spray cleaning.
• Undertake deep cleans in areas where infection is present.
• Removal of rubbish including domestic and clinical waste from designated areas to disposal point.
• Cleaning of sanitary areas, toilet, sinks, shower cubicles and staff changing areas.
• Damp dusting of all surfaces, ledges, shelves, curtain rails.
• Cleaning of internal glass.
• Maintain high standards of cleanliness in all work areas.
• Carry out any urgent spot cleaning and spillage.
• Participate in training programmes relevant to efficiency, fire drills, hygiene, the requirements of the health and safety at Work regulations and other courses as deemed necessary for the efficient working of the department.
• Any other duties as deemed appropriate. NVQ Level 1 or 2 or equivalent

Experience and knowledge Essential
