Job summary

Sodexo is inviting applications for a Cleaning Operative at Churcher's College, Hampshire. The role is 15 hours per week, Monday to Friday, 5pm–8pm, with duties to maintain the school’s cleanliness and to supervise the cleaning team where needed.

You will follow safeguarding and health & safety procedures, report issues, and deliver a reliable, customer-focused cleaning service while ensuring equipment and areas are well maintained.

Responsibilities

  • Maintain the school to the highest standards of cleanliness and presentation.
  • Supervise and support the cleaning team.
  • Monitor cleaning schedules and ensure duties are completed to standard.
  • Lead by example with a professional, customer-focused approach.
  • Ensure compliance with safeguarding, health and safety, and COSHH requirements.
  • Communicate with management and report issues promptly.
  • Build strong working relationships with staff and pupils.
  • Secure premises and ensure areas are safe for use.
  • Care for cleaning equipment and storage areas.

Hours 15 hours per week

What You Will Do
  • Ensure the school is maintained to the highest standards of cleanliness and presentation.
  • Supervise and support the cleaning team to deliver an efficient and effective cleaning service.
  • Monitor cleaning schedules and ensure all duties are completed to the required standard.
  • Lead by example by maintaining a professional, positive, and customer-focused approach always.
  • Ensure compliance with safeguarding, health and safety, fire safety, and COSHH requirements.
  • Communicate effectively with management, reporting any issues, incidents, or concerns promptly.
  • Build and maintain strong working relationships with the school and wider team.
  • Secure the premises as required and ensure all areas are safe and ready for use.
  • Care for cleaning equipment, materials, and storage areas, ensuring they are maintained correctly.
What You Bring
  • Strong leadership skills with the ability to motivate, support, and guide a cleaning team to achieve high standards.
  • Excellent organisation and time management skills, ensuring all tasks are completed efficiently and on schedule.
  • A hardworking, reliable, and self-motivated approach with a commitment to delivering quality results.
  • Experience of working both independently and collaboratively within a team environment.
  • A strong focus on customer service, building positive relationships with staff, pupils, visitors, and colleagues.
  • A thorough understanding of health and safety procedures and the importance of maintaining a safe working environment.
  • A positive attitude, willingness to learn, and commitment to continuous improvement.
  • The ability to remain calm and effective when working under pressure.

This role involves sole working. As a result of the role's health and safety risk assessment and safeguarding requirements, the minimum age for this position is 18.
