Job description

Cleaning Operative

Salary: £26,328.38 pa

Band: A

Contract type: Full-time, Permanent

We are looking for a reliable and hardworking Cleaning Operative to join our Facilities Management Team at University of Exeter International Study Centre. This is an important role in maintaining a clean, safe and welcoming environment for our students, staff and visitors across our academic and residential sites.

You will work as part of a friendly and diverse Facilities Management Team, reporting to the Facilities Manager and helping to maintain the high standards expected across the centre.

Working hours fall between 06:00 and 18:00, although actual working times are mostly between 07:00 and 16:00. Flexibility within these hours is therefore required.

Your day-to-day work will include cleaning student bedrooms and kitchens, communal areas, classrooms, corridors, offices, foyers and toilets. You will also support colleagues across different areas when required and carry out deep cleaning as directed.

Requirements

INTO is committed to safeguarding and promoting the welfare of children, young people and vulnerable adults, and we expect all colleagues, partners and volunteers to share this commitment.

Successful candidates will be expected to uphold our safeguarding culture and, where relevant to the role, fulfil safeguarding responsibilities in line with organisational policies and procedures.

As part of our safer recruitment practices, all appointments are subject to appropriate pre-employment checks, which may include references, identity verification, right to work checks, qualification verification and, where applicable, a Disclosure and Barring Service (DBS) check.

Depending on the nature of the role, the position may be exempt from the Rehabilitation of Offenders Act 1974. Where this applies, applicants will be required to disclose any convictions and cautions that are not protected under the Rehabilitation of Offenders Act 1974 (Exceptions Order 1975), as amended. Protected convictions and cautions do not need to be disclosed and will not be taken into account during the recruitment process.
