Cleaning Operations Manager - SEC, Glasgow
Salary: Up to £42,500 per annum (DOE)
Working Hours: 5 days over 7, including weekends and evenings

As the Cleaning Operations Manager, you will play a pivotal role in ensuring the venue maintains the highest cleanliness standards, providing a safe and welcoming environment for guests. You will be responsible for managing a team of cleaning staff, handling the cleaning operations for events, and supporting the Contract Manager on-site. This is a hands-on leadership role, where you will lead by example and ensure our cleaning operations run efficiently, particularly during high-demand events.

The Scottish Event Campus (SEC) is interconnected exhibition and meeting venue, SEC Armadillo and the OVO Hydro - a 14,300 capacity concert, sporting and special events arena. The SEC will be one of the host venues for the Commonwealth Games 2026.

Key Responsibilities:
  • Oversee and manage all cleaning activities for events, including pre-event preparations, post-event clean-up, and maintaining cleanliness throughout event days.
  • Supervise and lead a team of cleaning staff, ensuring high levels of performance, training, and development.
  • Ensure all cleaning tasks are completed to the highest standards, including public areas, back-of-house spaces, toilets, and VIP areas.
  • Work closely with the Contract Manager to coordinate schedules, resources, and cleaning requirements for all events.
  • Ensure health and safety standards are consistently followed, including proper handling of cleaning chemicals and equipment.
  • Manage the inventory of cleaning supplies, ensuring stock levels are maintained and ordering is done in a timely manner.
  • Assist in developing and implementing cleaning strategies, especially during peak event periods.
  • Troubleshoot and resolve any cleaning-related issues promptly to ensure the venue always meets client expectations.
  • Maintain a high standard of communication with event organizers, venue staff, and external contractors.

About you:
  • Proven experience in event cleaning management, ideally in large-scale venues or event spaces.
  • Strong leadership skills with experience in managing cleaning teams, particularly in high-pressure environments.
  • Ability to work flexible hours, including weekends and evenings, to accommodate event schedules.
  • Excellent organizational and time-management skills, with the ability to handle multiple tasks and meet deadlines.
  • Knowledge of health, safety, and environmental regulations within the cleaning industry.
  • Strong communication skills and the ability to work effectively with a wide range of stakeholders.
  • Ability to work collaboratively in a fast-paced, dynamic environment.
  • A proactive approach to problem-solving with the ability to remain calm under pressure.
