Job summary

York Teaching Hospital Facilities Management is seeking Cleaning & Catering Operatives for Bridlington District Hospital. The role supports ward cleanliness and catering services across designated areas, with duties including meal distribution and meal plating to meet dietary needs.

Excellent teamwork and a willingness to learn are essential. Training will be provided; hours include evenings and weekends, with permanent contract and part-time hours up to 30 per week.

Qualifications

York Teaching Hospital Facilities Management (YTHFM) are looking for approachable and flexibleCleaning & Catering Operatives to join our team at Bridlington District Hospital. Experience is not necessary as full training will be given, but a willingness to learn and develop your skills is essential.

The main function of this post is to participate in maintaining levels of cleanliness throughout a designated area and providing a catering service.

Hours and shift patterns available are Evenings and Weekends

Main duties of the job

The main responsibilities of the role are maintaining levels of cleanliness throughout a designated area and provide a catering service on the wards.

Your duties will include, but are not limited to;

• Ensuring that the ward/area you are assigned to is cleaned in accordance with the work schedule for that area. This will include lifting items and operating cleaning machinery, some of which is industrial standard
• Undertaking specialist cleaning as required under the guidance of the Facilities Supervisor and/or Nurse in Charge and/or Infection Prevention Dept
• Assisting with the distribution of meals to wards
• Plating up of meals, ensuring the dietary requirements of patients are met
• Making and distributing hot drinks and cleaning and refilling water jugs

Person specification

Education, Qualifications and Training

Experience and Knowledge

• An understanding of the importance of health and safety • COSHH procedures • Infection prevention and control • Knowledge of the safe use of cleaning equipment/machinery
• Use, experience and knowledge of computer technologies (Word, Excel and Outlook)
• An understanding of the importance of hygiene
• Experience in a similar role or industry
