Job summary

York Teaching Hospital Facilities Management is seeking a part-time Cleaning & Catering Operative (Band 2) at Malton Community Hospital. The post is 32.5 hours per week, Mondays to Fridays from 13:00 to 20:00 with a 30-minute lunch break, based in Malton.

The role involves maintaining cleanliness across designated areas and providing a ward catering service. Full training will be given; no prior experience required, but reliability and team spirit are essential.

Qualifications

  • Ability to work on own initiative with minimum supervision.
  • Ability to work as an effective team member.
  • Good basic education with reading/writing and numeric skills.
  • Willingness to complete appropriate qualifications or training when required.
  • Experience in cleaning industry is desirable.

Responsibilities

  • Maintain levels of cleanliness across a designated area as per work schedules.
  • Provide a catering service to wards and assist with meal distribution.
  • Plating meals to meet dietary requirements and serving hot drinks.
  • Operate cleaning machinery and assist with infection prevention routines.
  • Support with general ward duties and liaise with Facilities Supervisor.

York Teaching Hospital Facilities Management (YTHFM) are looking for approachable and flexibleCleaning & Catering Operatives to join our team at Malton Community Hospital. Experience is not necessary as full training will be given, but a willingness to learn and develop your skills is essential.

The main function of this post is to participate in maintaining levels of cleanliness throughout a designated area, and providing a catering service.

Main duties of the job

The main responsibilities of the role are maintaining levels of cleanliness throughout a designated area, and provide a catering service on the wards.

Your duties will include, but are not limited to;

  • Ensuring that the ward/area you are assigned to is cleaned in accordance with the work schedule for that area. This will include lifting items and operating cleaning machinery, some of which is industrial standard
  • Undertaking specialist cleaning as required under the guidance of the Facilities Supervisor and/or Nurse in Charge and/or Infection Prevention Department
  • Assisting with the distribution of meals to wards
  • Plating up of meals, ensuring the dietary requirements of patients are met
  • Making and distributing hot drinks and cleaning and refilling water jugs

DBS Checks
