Job summary

Barnsley Academy is seeking a reliable cleaner to join our facilities team. You will perform daily cleaning of teaching spaces, communal areas and offices, ensuring floors, surfaces and glass are maintained to a high standard.

Responsibilities include using a range of cleaning equipment safely, managing waste and supporting health and safety practices within an education setting. Experience is desirable but not essential; training provided.

Qualifications

• Ability to use, clean and maintain a full range of industrial and domestic cleaning equipment.
• Understanding of operational practices and work schedules.
• Understanding and awareness of health and safety issues related to cleaning materials, equipment and premises.
• Good communication skills.
• Ability to maintain appropriate levels of security in all working areas.
• Ability to work effectively both independently and as part of a team.
• Previous experience in an Education setting would be advantageous but not essential.

• Empty wastepaper bins and remove waste to designated area.

Job description

Main duties will include:

• Cleaning floor space in teaching,communal and office areas using appropriate techniques and equipment, forexample, mops, sweeps, spray cleans, machine scrub, dry, buff and suctionclean.
• Cleaning all internal surface areas,for example, walls, windows, work surfaces and floors using appropriatetechniques, equipment and materials.
• Emptying wastepaper bins and removingwaste to a designated area.
