Job summary

Sodexo in Newcastle upon Tyne is seeking a dedicated Cleaner to join our team at Victoria House. This part-time role focuses on maintaining a safe, clean and welcoming environment for residents, staff and visitors.

The successful candidate will work 12.5 hours per week, Monday to Friday, 06:30–08:30, and will receive ongoing training and support. Age 18+ and valid photo ID required. Previous cleaning experience is desirable but not essential.

Responsibilities

• Take pride in completing scheduled cleaning tasks to a high standard.
• Carry out periodic deep cleans as required.
• Keep kitchens, toilets, communal areas and other facilities clean, tidy and presentable at all times.
• Monitor and replenish essential supplies, including toilet tissue and soap.
• Work closely with the security team and report faults or hazards promptly.
• Support the wider team by maintaining clean and presentable working areas.
• Bring a friendly, approachable and professional attitude to your work.
• Take ownership of responsibilities and be proud of the difference your work makes every day.

Approved Premises provide essential support to individuals released from prison, offering enhanced supervision and rehabilitation as they transition back into the community. Working in this unique environment, you'll be helping to create a safe, comfortable and positive setting that supports people on their journey towards a more positive future.

What you'll do:

• Take pride in your work by completing scheduled cleaning tasks to a consistently high standard.

• Work closely with the security team, building positive relationships and reporting any faults, maintenance issues or potential hazards promptly.

What you bring:

• Previous cleaning experience is desirable but not essential - full training will be provided, including cleaning products, equipment and health and safety.
• A friendly, approachable attitude with good communication and customer service skills.
• Someone who takes pride in their work and enjoys creating clean, safe and welcoming spaces.
• The ability to work efficiently in a busy environment while maintaining high standards and adapting to changing priorities.
