Job summary

ABM is seeking a dedicated Cleaning Operative to join our team at Eastgate Shopping Centre in the United Kingdom. This role focuses on maintaining a clean, safe, and welcoming environment for visitors, retailers, and colleagues.

You will perform planned and reactive cleaning, including lifts, floors, washrooms, and back-of-house areas, with full training provided. A positive, professional attitude, reliability, and the ability to work both independently and as part of a team are essential.

Qualifications

• Previous cleaning experience is desirable but not essential; full training provided.

Responsibilities

• Maintain high standards of cleanliness throughout the shopping centre.
• Clean and sanitise lifts and stainless steel surfaces, doors, frames, runners and mirrors.
• Sweep, mop and maintain floors in public and back-of-house areas.
• Clean and sanitise washrooms and staff facilities; replenish consumables.
• Empty waste bins and manage waste disposal per site procedures.
• Set up, maintain and store cleaning equipment safely.
• Monitor assigned areas and address cleaning needs.
• Respond promptly to spillages and reactive cleaning tasks.
• Support Team Leaders and Supervisors to deliver service excellence.
• Complete training and comply with Health & Safety and company policies.

ROLE OVERVIEW AND PURPOSE

We are looking for a dedicated, reliable, and hardworking Cleaning Operative to join our team at Eastgate Shopping Centre. This is an excellent opportunity to become part of a professional team responsible for maintaining a clean, safe, and welcoming environment for visitors, retailers, and colleagues.

As a Cleaning Operative, you will play a vital role in ensuring the highest standards of cleanliness and presentation are maintained throughout the centre. You will work as part of a supportive team, delivering both planned and reactive cleaning services to help create an exceptional customer experience.

KEY RESPONSIBILITIES

• Maintain high standards of cleanliness throughout the shopping centre.
• Clean and sanitise lifts, including stainless steel surfaces, lift doors, frames, runners, and mirrors.
• Sweep, mop, and maintain floor surfaces throughout public and back-of-house areas.
• Clean and sanitise washrooms and staff facilities, replenishing consumables as required.
• Empty waste bins and manage waste disposal in accordance with site procedures.
• Set up, maintain, and safely store cleaning equipment and materials.
• Monitor assigned areas and proactively address cleaning requirements.
• Respond promptly to spillages and other reactive cleaning tasks.
• Support Team Leaders and Supervisors to ensure service excellence is consistently delivered.
• Complete all required training and comply with Health & Safety procedures and company policies.
