Job summary

Vision for Education is recruiting a Classroom Support Assistant in the Rotherham area to support pupils with learning disabilities and challenging behaviours. The role runs Monday to Friday, full-time, with a temporary to permanent contract starting from early January 2027.

The weekly pay ranges from £469.15 to £524.90 depending on experience and qualifications. You will work with young people aged 3–19 with needs such as autism, language disorders, SEMH, ADHD, and other learning difficulties,

Qualifications

• Previous experience of working with behaviours that challenge is highly desirable.
• DBS checked (enhanced) or willingness to apply for one.
• Ability to work on initiative and proactively support learners.

• Assist and encourage participation in activities, lessons, and crafts.

The Role

As a Classroom Support Assistant, you will be supporting pupils with Learning Disabilities and Challenging behaviours to work to the best of their ability to make the most of their education and learning. You will assist and encourage the young adults to take part in all activities and tasks carried out by the school including physical activity, lessons and crafts. The young people will have needs such as autism, developmental language disorder, speech and language difficulties, SEMH, EBD, ADHD, PMLD, SLD and moderate learning difficulties. This role can be very rewarding for somebody who is wanting to make a positive impact on a young person’s life.

Requirements

To be considered for the Classroom Support Assistant position, you will have:

• Previous experience of working with behaviours that challenge is highly desirable
• An enhanced DBS registered to the update service or the willingness to apply for one
• The ability to work on initiative and proactively
• The desire to work with young people with special educational needs
• A driving licence and car or accessible public transport links.
• Available Monday to Friday
