Job summary

Vision for Education in Doncaster is seeking a Classroom Support Assistant to help pupils with Learning Disabilities and challenging behaviours engage in lessons and activities. You will encourage participation in all school activities, including physical activity, lessons and crafts, to help each pupil achieve their education goals.

The role requires empathy and reliability, with a proactive approach. An enhanced DBS (Update Service) is preferred, and a driving licence is helpful for travel

Qualifications

• Experience with behaviours that challenge is highly desirable
• DBS - enhanced DBS registered to Update Service or willing to apply
• Ability to work on initiative and proactively
• Desire to work with young people with special educational needs
• Driving licence and car or accessible public transport links
• Available Monday to Friday

Salary is dependent on experience, training or qualifications.

Monday – Friday (Full time, Temporary to Permanent)

The Role

As a Classroom Support Assistant, you will be supporting pupils with Learning Disabilities and Challenging behaviours to work to the best of their ability to make the most of their education and learning. You will assist and encourage the young adults to take part in all activities and tasks carried out by the school including physical activity, lessons and crafts. The young people will have needs such as autism, developmental language disorder, speech and language difficulties, SEMH, EBD, ADHD, PMLD, SLD and moderate learning difficulties. This role can be very rewarding for somebody who is wanting to make a positive impact on a young person’s life.

Requirements

• Previous experience of working with behaviours that challenge is highly desirable
• An enhanced DBS registered to the update service or the willingness to apply for one
• The ability to work on initiative and proactively
