Job summary

Shorefields in the United Kingdom seeks a Cover Supervisor to supervise classes of pupils aged 11 to 18 during short-term teacher absences. You will follow lesson instructions, maintain order, and keep students on task to support learning.

You will work with teachers and the school to promote literacy and numeracy, uphold safeguarding policies, and contribute to a calm, purposeful learning environment for all students.

Qualifications

• Strong behaviour management, clear communication, and the ability to build positive relationships with students.

Responsibilities

• Supervise pupils engaged in learning activities.
• Act as a role model and set high expectations of conduct and behaviour.
• Promote the inclusion and acceptance of all pupils within the classroom.
• Keep pupils on task and respond to general queries.
• Promote whole school literacy and numeracy.
• Promote good behaviour through working with individuals and through the joint development of programmes within the school community.
• Provide objective and accurate feedback to the teacher on the conduct of the lesson.
• Keep appropriate records as agreed with the teacher.
• Promote positive values, attitudes and good pupil behaviour, dealing promptly with conflict and incidents in line with established policy and encourage pupils to take responsibility for their own behaviour.
• Take part in the preventative work within the school that is focused on avoiding criminality among young people.
• Support the use of ICT where appropriate.
• Make appropriate use of equipment and resources.
• Be aware of and comply with policies and procedures relating to child protection, equal opportunities, health, safety and security, confidentiality and data protection.
• Report all concerns to an appropriate person.
• Be aware of and support difference and ensure all pupils have equal access to opportunities to learn and develop.
• Participate in training and other learning activities as required.
• Attend relevant school meetings as required.
• Respect confidentiality at all time.
