Job summary

Ormiston Rivers Academy in Essex is seeking a Cover Supervisor to keep lessons running when teachers are absent. You will supervise whole classes, deliver instructions, and maintain focus in a term-time only role of 32.5 hours per week.

Applicants should have NVQ Level 3 or equivalent and recent school-based experience with children and young people. Visa sponsorship is not available.

Qualifications

• NVQ Level 3 or equivalent qualification or experience.
• Recent successful experience working with children and young people in a school environment.
• Commitment to safeguarding and promoting the welfare of young people.

Responsibilities

• Supervise whole classes when teachers are absent, keeping students engaged and on task.
• Deliver the lesson instructions set by teachers.
• Respond to students' general questions.
• Promote positive behaviour and deal promptly with incidents in line with Academy policy.
• Give teachers accurate feedback on the conduct of each lesson.
• Keep appropriate records of lessons and behaviour.
• Support the use of ICT in lessons.
• Contribute to daily lunchtime duties and wider cover across the school.
• Help create a safe, inclusive and respectful learning environment.
