Argyll and Bute is one of Scotland's most stunning areas. As its award-winning council, we play a vital part in the day-to-day life and long-term future of our beautiful and diverse communities. Our unwavering purpose is to make Argyll and Bute the place to be, the place where people want to live, to work and do business. And we are committed to making the council the place to have a great career, by providing excellent benefits and a friendly, dynamic working culture so that each of our 5000 colleagues can deliver services that help our corner of Scotland thrive. Join us to make a difference.

Dunbeg Early Learning Centre is looking to recruit an enthusiastic and caring Classroom Assistant to join our friendly and experienced team.

This post is for 12 hours per week, working Monday to Wednesday.

Dunbeg Primary School and Early Learning Centre is situated in a beautiful coastal location, just outside Oban, and benefits from wonderful surroundings which provide a wealth of opportunities for learning both within and beyond the school grounds. Our extensive grounds include a large forest area which is regularly used to support outdoor learning, exploration, creativity and play.

The wider Dunbeg area provides an equally inspiring environment for our children. With beautiful beaches, woodland and the historic Dunstaffnage Castle nearby, there are many opportunities to make connections with our local environment, community, history and natural world.

At Dunbeg, you will be joining a supportive, welcoming and highly experienced staff team who work closely together to provide high-quality learning experiences and positive outcomes for our children. We place great value on strong relationships, teamwork and a nurturing approach, creating an environment where children and staff are encouraged and supported to thrive.

As a Classroom Assistant, you will work as part of the Early Learning and Childcare team to support children in their learning, development and wellbeing. You will help to create a safe, welcoming and nurturing environment where children are encouraged to explore, play, develop their independence and enjoy positive learning experiences.

The role will involve supporting children across a range of indoor and outdoor learning experiences, helping to prepare and organise resources, assisting with routines and transitions throughout the day, and providing individual or small-group support where required. You will work closely with Early Years staff to ensure the individual needs of children are recognised and supported appropriately.

We are looking for someone who is patient, positive, caring and approachable, with a genuine interest in supporting young children. You should become able to build warm and respectful relationships with children, work effectively as part of a team and contribute positively to the wider life of the Early Learning Centre and school.

Our employees make good things happen in the day-to-day life and for the longer term future of Argyll and Bute. We want you to feel valued working for us. We offer various benefits to support you, such as a competitive salary, pension scheme, generous leave entitlement, cycle to work scheme, discounts on gym memberships and leisure centres, wellbeing initiatives, and opportunities for learning and career growth. We also embrace a modern approach to work, offering a flexible first approach where possible to requests from our employees to how they work.

We care about our people and the world around us and always aim to do the right thing. From employee recognition schemes to environmental policies we have many initiatives in place to help us look after the things we all care about.
