Job Title: Classroom Assistant
Location: Southampton, Hampshire
Salary: £12.82 per hour
Start Date: September 2025
Contract Type: Full-time

GSL Education are currently looking for a caring and passionate Classroom Assistant to join a friendly and inclusive primary school in Southampton. You’ll become a trusted part of the classroom, helping students stay focused, feel supported, and enjoy their learning. Your enthusiasm and dedication will help create a positive and encouraging environment where every student can thrive. Responsibilities of Classroom Assistant:

• Assist in delivering lessons and classroom activities under the teacher’s guidance.
• Offer one-to-one or group support to students who need extra help.
• Promote positive behaviour and encourage student engagement.
• Help with classroom organisation and resource preparation.
• Build strong relationships with students and staff to support a positive school culture.
• Follow safeguarding, behaviour, and school policies at all times.

Job Requirements:

• Experience working with children or young people in any setting is desirable.
• A confident, compassionate, and patient approach to supporting learners.
• Strong communication and teamwork skills.
• Adaptability and a willingness to learn on the job.
• A commitment to student wellbeing, safety, and development.
• Must have an up-to-date CV (covering the last 10 years with any gaps explained).
• An enhanced DBS registered to the Update Service (or be willing to apply for one).
