Job Profile Summary

Underwriting, Portfolio Management, Strategy & Planning Activities contributing towards operation of the Political Risk and Credit account

JobDescription
  • Underwriting the Political Risks and Credit Account, with a focus on Structured Credit and Portfolio risks.
  • Assist with training and supervision of Underwriting Assistants.
  • Developing and sustaining effective relationships with key clients and brokers including overseas travel as may be necessary.
  • Actively participate in transaction related meetings, both internal and with clients and brokers.
  • Work with a panel of Reinsurers, including the preparation of the reinsurance renewal information and the presentation of underwriting strategy.
  • Providing support to Team, Division and Insurance Heads and preparing reports and papers to assist with Strategy as required.
  • Participation in and contribution towards relevant industry groups.
  • Collaboration with Risk Management, Operations and Actuarial Teams within Chaucer to ensure accurate and timely reporting of Underwriting MI – including premium, claims and exposure data
  • Compliance with Lloyd’s regulations and Byelaws.
  • Peer Review of risks as allocated under the peer review selection criteria and responsibility matrix as set out in the Underwriting Manual.
Regulatory Responsibilities

Comply with all policies and procedures and ensure that due regard is paid to providing good customer outcomes and the fair treatment of customers.

  • Manage the relationships with Customers, Agents and Service Providers:
  • Advise, assist and service customers on insurance and risk matters to promote customers’ satisfaction
  • Foster positive relationships with customers and attain an understanding of their needs
  • Ensure that customer complaints are promptly identified, recorded and referred as appropriate
  • Complete all required annual product review assessments to agreed timescales with approvals obtained and recorded
  • Follow all Chaucer Group Product Governance processes in the UCM and obtain appropriate approvals
  • Ensure that the principles of providing good customer outcomes and the fair treatment of customers are upheld by Agents and Service Providers.
Skills and Competencies
  • Analytical skills, including credit, financial institution and sovereign risk analysis
  • A proven understanding of Portfolio risk analysis
  • Demonstrable interest in Global Macro Economics
  • Interpersonal skills, adaptability and able to communicate with different levels
