Job summary

Twynham Primary School in Dorset is seeking an outstanding teacher to cover maternity leave starting in November 2026. The post is full-time under Twynham Learning, reporting to the Headteacher.

The role sits on the Main Pay Scale with a fixed-term contract until 31 October 2027, for Key Stage 1 and 2 classes. The successful candidate will deliver quality teaching, support pupil progress, and contribute to the wider life of the school while upholding safeguarding and behavior policies.

Qualifications

  • QTS and experience teaching in Key Stage 1 & 2.
  • Experience with pupils with differing educational needs.
  • Ability to relate to children in and out of the classroom.

Responsibilities

  • Provide quality first teaching to meet the needs of all children.
  • Pastoral and academic progress tracking using school systems.
  • Work with a learning support assistant and support school policies.
  • Contribute to the wider life of the school.

About the Post

We are looking for an excellent teacher with high expectations of both themselves and children, fantastic classroom management skills and the desire to contribute fully to the wider life of the school. The role is to start in November and is to cover maternity leave.

The first priority for all teachers is to provide quality first teaching to meet the needs of all children in their class or intervention group. Teachers are responsible for the pastoral and academic progress of each child in their class/group, making use of the school’s systems for assessment and tracking pupil progress.

Responsibilities of the post include the pastoral role of being a class teacher; working with a learning support assistant on occasions; contributing to the fuller life of the school; supporting school policies on behaviour and attendance.
