*We are interested in teachers with experience and passion in teaching in EYFS. When you apply for this role, you are open to working in school-based EYFS settings ranging from age 3 to age 6.

We are looking to appoint an inspirational and creative class teacher who will enhance our excellent staff team. Successful candidates will be committed to “bringing out the best” in every member of our school community, especially themselves and will have a passion for developing children throughout the Early Years Foundation Stage.

Devonshire Road Primary School is a friendly and welcoming two form entry primary school. Within our diverse setting, we aim to help all children achieve and rise to challenges; we want them to learn and grow with pride and confidence. Our most recent Ofsted was in September 2026 and we were really pleased with how it went (we can’t share the report with you just yet though!). We have an excellent reputation and we are very proud of all we achieve at Devonshire Road. But don’t take our word for it, check out our website and Instagram pages.

Our school is wonderfully diverse in every way. Within our school we have: children who are new to English and joining us from international destinations; children living in poverty; high numbers of children with additional needs …just like lots of other primary schools. We don’t tell you this to put you off. We tell you this because we know that there will be amazing teachers out there who are just as passionate as we are about giving children the best life chances. If you are one of them, we want you to apply. We expect hard work and dedication, and in exchange for this we will offer you:

  • comradery
  • sensible leadership decisions which support your workload and wellbeing
  • professional development
  • amazing children
  • laughs
  • a great community and a team who strive together for excellence.
Our children has asked for a teacher who:
  • Is kind, helpful and will care for them
  • Is curious and excited to learn
  • Is hardworking and organised (honestly, that was what they said!)
  • Is strict but cares about us
  • Recognises that they are all wonderful
  • Is respectful of everyone in and around our school
  • Is happy and positive and can be funny
  • “Makes us be the best we can be”
Our staff want a colleague who:
  • Is a team player; someone who is friendly, approachable and gets stuck in
  • Is dedicated to getting the best for our Devonshire Road children and is resilient when facing a challenge
  • Is interested in finding out how individual children learn, and is sensitive to all needs
  • Is enthusiastic and fun whilst being very professional
  • Is upbeat and positive with a good sense of humour
  • Is interested in developing their own pedagogy and the school’s curriculum in order to get the best outcomes for our children
Visits to school available at the following times:
  • Wednesday 7th October 2026, 9:30am
  • Wednesday 7th October 2026, 4pm

The closing date for applications is Tuesday 13th October 2026, 12noon.

Shortlisting will be on Friday 16th October 2026
Shortlisted candidates will be observed teaching and conduct their interview on Tuesday 20th October 2026 .

The school is committed to safer recruitment and pre-employment checks will be undertaken before appointment is confirmed. The post is subject to enhanced Disclosure Barring Service clearance. The school is committed to safeguarding and promoting the welfare of children and young people and it expects staff and volunteers to share this commitment.

Interview Date: 20 October 2026
