Job summary

Gate Gourmet, based at Edinburgh Airport, is hiring a dedicated HGV Driver for a fixed-term contract through 31 October 2026. You will operate 15–18 tonne company liveried vehicles in a secure airport environment, loading catering uplifts to varying aircraft and performing pre-use checks.

The role offers in-house training, meals, a pension, and a range of employee benefits. Applicants must hold a clean HGV CAT C licence, have tachograph knowledge, and be available for early shifts (0400–1600)

Qualifications

• Valid HGV CAT C licence with clean record.
• Digital tachograph knowledge and tachograph card.
• Experience driving HGVs in airport environments is advantageous.
• Knowledge of airport ground handling procedures is a plus.

Responsibilities

• Drive HGV 15–18 tonne liveried vehicles in a secure, controlled airport environment.
• Carry out vehicle checks prior to use and load/unload catering uplifts to aircraft.
• Liaise with flight crew and work with other ground handling teams.
• Maintain vehicle cleanliness and comply with Road Traffic Acts and airport by-laws.
• Assist with warehouse duties and related paperwork as required.

About the role:

Working at the Edinburgh airport, you will be part of a great team delivering outstanding service to its variation of airline customers. Working with a fleet of specialized catering trucks, you will have the opportunity to transport and load catering uplifts on different aircraft types ranging from small business jets to commercial jets in a secure & controlled environment.

Main Duties of the HGV Driver

• Driving HGV 15 – 18 tonne company liveried vehicles in a secure & controlled environment
• Carrying out vehicle checks prior to use
• Loading and unloading catering uplifts to aircraft
• Liaise with flight crew and working in collaboration with other ground handling suppliers
• Maintaining the cleanliness and tidiness of the vehicle
• Adhering to all Road Traffic Acts and additional Airport By- laws
• Additional duties such as Bar and stores packing or search and sealing will be a daily requirement along with any associated paperwork.
• Plus any additional warehouse duties

Requirements of the HGV Driver:

• Valid clean HGV CAT C Driving Licence (up to 3 points will be considered)
• Digital Tachograph knowledge and possession of a digital tachograph card
• Previous HGV experience desirable, Airport Airside Driving would be an advantage
• Knowledge of the Road Traffic Act
