Job summary

Driver Hire Manchester is recruiting experienced Class 2 multi-drop drivers for several key customers across Sussex. This role is ideal for someone who takes pride in a proper job, values strong customer interaction, and enjoys a mix of driving and physical work.

You will complete multi-drop local routes, perform vehicle checks, load/unload with equipment, and ensure loads are secured. Flexibility for day/night/weekend shifts with excellent pay rates and overtime options.

Qualifications

• Valid Class 2 (C) licence with CPC and Tachograph card.
• Comfortable with manual handling and lifting.
• Flexible shifts including days/nights and weekends.

Responsibilities

• Vehicle checks: perform daily walkaround checks and report defects.
• Deliveries: complete multi-drop local routes safely and on time.
• Stock & equipment: load/unload using provided equipment and secure loads.
• Returns & collections: collect empty stock and return to depot.
• Customer facing: verify deliveries, obtain signatures/payments where required, represent the company professionally.
• Compliance: adhere to Drivers’ Hours, Tachograph rules and Working Time Directives.
• Depot support: assist with warehouse tasks during downtime or peak times.

Job description

We are recruiting experienced Class 2 multi-drop drivers for several of our key customers across Sussex.

Previous pallet network experience is desirable but not essential. It’s ideal for a driver who takes pride in doing a proper job, values strong customer interaction, and enjoys a mix of driving and physical work.

Key Responsibilities

Vehicle Checks: Perform thorough daily walkaround checks and basic defect reporting to maintain full roadworthiness.

Deliveries: Complete multi-drop local routes efficiently, safely, and on time.

Stock & Equipment: Load and unload vehicles using provided equipment (e.g. electric and manual pump trucks, trollies and cages) and ensure all loads are properly strapped and secured before departure.

Returns & Collections: Collect empty returnable stock, crates, or containers from customer sites and return them to the depot.

Customer Facing: Check items off against delivery notes/EPOD devices, take signatures or payments where required, and represent the company professionally.

Compliance: Strictly adhere to Drivers’ Hours regulations, EU Tachograph rules, and Working Time Directives at all times.

Depot Support: Assist with general warehouse tasks (such as vehicle loading or sorting returns) during downtime or peak trade.

What We Are Looking For

Licence Requirements: Full Class 2 (Category C) licence, valid CPC, and Digital Tachograph card.

Physical Fitness: Candidates must be comfortable with manual handling and lifting throughout the shift.

Flexibility: day/night/weekend shifts, start and finish times will vary depending on daily route lengths, drops, and traffic.

Professional Mindset: Solid understanding of load security, safe manual handling, and driver compliance.

Communication: Friendly, professional attitude with commercial customers.

Excellent pay rates (PAYE and Umbrella options available), enhanced rates for overtime and weekends.
