Job summary

DPD Newcastle is hiring a Class 2/18 tonne driver to join our Newcastle operation. Based at Armstrong Rd, Armstrong, Washington NE37 1PR, you will perform local collections and deliveries with a focus on reliability and customer service.

The role uses Saturn handheld devices, requires a valid Class 2 licence, DQC/CPC, and Tachograph card, and offers weekday shifts with a 09:00–17:45 style pattern. DPD promotes internal growth and sustainability.

Qualifications

• Valid Category C (Class 2) licence with DQC/CPC accreditation and a valid UK Tachograph Card.
• At least 6 months of recent Class 2 driving experience.
• Strong knowledge of local area geography and routes.
• Physically fit with ability to lift heavy loads and work under pressure.

Responsibilities

• Handle multi-drop collections and deliveries across the local area.
• Meet time-critical delivery deadlines while adhering to road laws and company policies.
• Use Saturn handheld devices and route planning software.
• Collaborate with warehouse and dispatch teams to ensure parcels reach customers.

The Role

• The Route: Handle multi-drop collections and deliveries across your local area successfully achieving time sensitive deliveries and predetermined collection schedules

• The Vehicle: Take pride in your 18T vehicle, ensuring it’s safe, roadworthy, and presentable.
• The Team: Collaborate with warehouse and dispatch teams to ensure every parcel reaches its home.

What You Bring

• The Essentials: A valid Category C (Class 2) licence, DQC/CPC accreditation, and a valid UK Digital Tachograph Card.
• Experience: At least 6 months recent experience handling Class 2 or equivalent vehicles
• The Mindset: A "can-do" flexible attitude and a focus on the customer experience.
• The Skillset: Strong geographical knowledge of the location and the surrounding areas.
• The Stamina: You’re physically fit, comfortable with heavy lifting, and thrive under pressure.
