Job summary

DPD Cornwall UK is seeking a 3.5 Tonne Driver to join our delivery network. You will conduct vehicle safety checks, load parcels for your route, and use handheld tech to navigate and deliver a first-class service.

The role offers a permanent full-time contract, 40 hours weekly, Monday to Friday, with benefits including a competitive hourly pay (£13.00 in most depots, £14.56 in London areas), milestone days, health support, and retailer discounts.

Qualifications

• Valid UK driving licence for at least 12 months.
• Able to lift and handle parcels up to 30 kg.
• Professional, reliable and customer-focused service mindset.
• Comfortable using handheld devices and navigating local roads.

Responsibilities

• Vehicle prep and loading, ensuring safe daily checks and efficient loading.
• Navigate territory with handheld tech, providing accurate delivery windows.
• Deliver parcels directly to doorsteps with a friendly, professional approach.
• Solve delivery challenges on the go using local knowledge and tech.
• Safely handle and secure parcels up to 25 kg during transit.

The Role:

• Contract Type: Permanent Full-Time (40 Hours) Per Week

The Tasks: What Your Day Looks Like

• Vehicle Prep & Loading: Start your shift by conducting daily vehicle safety checks. You'll then take charge of your morning load, organising your parcels into your van to ensure maximum efficiency for your specific route.
• Route Mastery: Use our top-tier handheld technology to navigate your territory. Our software doesn't just give you a map; it provides "predict" windows for customers, making your journey smoother and more professional.
• Customer Interaction: You are the face of DPD. You'll be delivering smiles and parcels directly to doorsteps, providing a friendly, professional service that keeps our customers coming back.
• Problem Solving on the Go: Whether it's finding a "safe place" or navigating a tricky apartment complex, you'll use your local knowledge and our tech to ensure a successful first-time delivery.
• Safe Handling: You will be responsible for the security of your vehicle and the items within it, safely handling parcels (some weighing up to 25kg) from the depot to the final destination.

Requirements

• You’ve held a valid UK Driving Licence for at least 12 months.
• You’re physically fit (can handle parcels up to 30kg).
• You’re a "people person" who's professional and reliable and you care about the service you deliver
• You’re comfortable navigating local roads and using handheld devices.
