Job summary

Gregory Distribution in the United Kingdom is hiring a Class 1 Driver to join our dedicated delivery network. You will deliver to retail stores, operate curtain side and tail lift trailers, and ensure loads are secured and delivered on time while maintaining high safety and customer service standards.

Qualifications

• Valid UK Class 1 (CE) Driving Licence.
• Driver CPC qualification and Digital Tachograph Card.
• Experience delivering to retail or customer sites is advantageous; training provided.
• Ability to work to planned schedules and maintain safety standards.
• Good customer service and communication with store teams.

Responsibilities

• Deliver goods to retail stores on a dedicated contract with curtain side, tail lift and box trailers; 1–3 drops per shift.
• Secure loads with straps and nets to prevent movement or damage.
• Operate electric-assisted pallet trucks and perform manual handling for cage deliveries.
• Manage trailer movements and return trailers for servicing after shifts.
• Carry out daily vehicle safety checks using company phone to ensure safety and reliability.
• Communicate with transport office on progress and changes in real time.
• Represent Gregory Distribution professionally at each delivery point with customers.
• Participate in ongoing training and regulatory updates to keep skills sharp.
• Hold a valid UK Class 1 driving licence, Driver CPC and Digital Tachograph Card.

Job description

As a Class 1 Driver, you will:

• Deliver goods to retail stores on a dedicated contract using curtain side, tail lift, and box trailers, while returning store waste to the depot.
• Enjoy a manageable delivery schedule with typically 1 to 3 drops per shift, keeping deliveries on schedule and customers satisfied.
• Ensure all loads are safely and securely restrained using straps, nets, and appropriate securing equipment to prevent movement or damage during transit.
• Safely operate electric-assisted pallet trucks and carry out manual handling for cage-based deliveries when required, ensuring efficient and safe unloading at customer sites.
• Manage trailer movements, including the collection and return of trailers for servicing at the end of each shift.
• Perform comprehensive daily vehicle safety checks using your company phone to maintain top-notch vehicle safety and reliability.
• Maintain regular communication with the transport office to provide updates on delivery progress and respond to any changes or issues in real time.
• Represent the company professionally at every delivery point, ensuring excellent customer service and building strong relationships with store teams.
• Participate in ongoing training and development, including refresher courses and updates on industry regulations, to keep your skills sharp and compliant.
  Hold a valid UK Class 1 (CE) Driving Licence.
• Possess a current Driver CPC qualification and Digital Tachograph Driver Card.
• Previous experience delivering to retail, commercial or customer sites is advantageous, although full training can be provided.
• Demonstrate excellent customer service skills, with the ability to communicate professionally and build positive relationships with customers.
• Be capable of working to planned schedules and delivery deadlines while maintaining the highest standards of safety and compliance.
• Bring a positive, reliable and team-focused approach, with the confidence to work independently when required.
• Have good geographical awareness and the ability to navigate routes efficiently across the UK.
