Job summary

Bulkhaul is seeking experienced LGV Class 1 drivers to join our team. You will transport bulk liquids and powders in tank containers across the UK, with night-outs averaging 2–3 per week as needed by the business.

The role requires a valid LGV Class One (C+E), Driver CPC, ADR for hazardous liquids, and a current tachograph card. We offer competitive hourly rates with overtime, monthly pay, pension, and uniform/PPE provided.

Qualifications

  • Minimum 12 months Class 1 driving experience.
  • Must hold a current and valid LGV Class One (C+E) driving license.
  • Must have completed Driver CPC training and hold a valid DQC.
  • ADR license required for hazardous liquids transport.
  • Must possess a valid digital tachograph card.
  • Experience with tankers and bulk liquids is preferred.

Responsibilities

  • Transport bulk liquids and powders in tank containers across the UK.
  • Complete and maintain delivery notes, driving logs, and compliance records.
  • Perform daily vehicle and trailer safety checks before journeys.
  • Communicate effectively with clients and site staff during deliveries.
  • Adhere to Working Time Directive and tachograph regulations.

  • Mon-Fri Basic - £15.75
  • Mon-Fri +50 Hours - £17.75

Role Overview

We are currently seeking experienced and dedicated LGV Class 1 Drivers to join our team. As a Bulkhaul driver, you will be responsible for the transportation of bulk liquids and powders in tank containers, ensuring the highest standards of safety and compliance are met at all times. Night-outs form part of this role, and you can average 2-3 overnight stays a week depending on the needs of the business, night-outs will vary from week to week.

Key Responsibilities
  • Ensure the safe and timely transportation of bulk liquids, gasses and powders across the UK, adhering to all road safety regulations. Maintain a high level of awareness and compliance with all legal requirements, including those related to hazardous goods transport (ADR regulations) if applicable.
  • Perform daily Vehicle and Trailer Safety Maintenance checks before commencing any journey to ensure the vehicle is in proper working condition. Timely report any mechanical issues or necessary repairs to the fleet maintenance team.
  • Accurately complete and maintain all relevant paperwork, including delivery notes, driving logs, and compliance records. Ensure all necessary permits and licenses are up to date and carried in the vehicle.
  • Ensure that all bulk liquid is safely loaded and unloaded according to company procedures and regulations.
  • Communicate effectively and professionally with clients and site staff during deliveries.
  • Follow all Working Time Directive regulations and ensure compliance with drivers' hours and tachograph laws. Daily communication to manage driving times and rest periods efficiently.
  • Strictly follow all health and safety guidelines, particularly when handling hazardous materials.
Role Requirements
  • Minimum 12 months Class 1 driving experience.
  • Must hold a current and valid LGV Class One (Category C+E) driving license, enabling the operation of large goods vehicles, including articulated trucks.
  • Must have completed the required Driver CPC training and hold a valid Driver Qualification Card (DQC). Ongoing CPC training to maintain compliance is essential.
  • A valid ADR license is required, specifically for the transport of hazardous liquids. Training in handling hazardous materials, particularly in classes related to bulk liquids (such as corrosive or flammable substances), is a critical requirement.
  • Must possess a valid digital tachograph card to accurately record driving hours and comply with drivers' hours and working time regulations.
  • Previous experience in transporting bulk liquids is highly preferred, as it requires specialised skills in load handling, securing, and safety protocols. Experience with tankers and the relevant equipment (e.g., pumps, valves) is beneficial.
  • A strong understanding of health and safety regulations, particularly concerning the transportation of dangerous goods, is crucial. Familiarity with PPE requirements and safe loading/unloading procedures is necessary.
  • Good knowledge of UK roads, motorways, and relevant routes to ensure efficient and timely deliveries. Ability to use navigation tools and plan routes in compliance with legal restrictions on driving times.
  • Must meet the physical requirements to safely drive long hours, handle the loading/unloading of goods, and carry out vehicle inspections.
