Job summary

FCC Environment is hiring a Class 1 Driver in Washington, Tyne and Wear. The role involves safely operating Class 1 (C+E) vehicles across waste and recycling sites, with a 45-hour week and a rate of £14.82 per hour. You will ensure loads meet UK regulations, perform vehicle inspections and maintain high safety and customer service standards.

The position is full-time, with benefits and opportunities to train and progress within a large environmental services company.

Qualifications

• Full UK Category C+E (Class 1) licence is required.
• Driver CPC qualification is required.
• Digital Tachograph Card is required.
• At least two years of experience driving Class 1 vehicles.
• Experience transporting waste/recyclables is advantageous.
• Good geographical knowledge and route planning skills.
• Reliable, safety-conscious approach to work.
• Ability to work flexibly to meet operational requirements.

Responsibilities

• Transporting and delivering materials to and from customer sites in a safe and professional manner.
• Ensuring loads are verified and transported in accordance with UK regulations.
• Carrying out pre- and post-vehicle inspections and reporting defects.
• Completing all load and delivery paperwork accurately.
• Adapting driving to road, traffic and weather conditions.
• Reporting accidents, incidents, delays or breakdowns per procedures.
• Maintaining cleanliness of vehicles and equipment.
• Completing daily timesheets and work within timescales.
• Following Safe Systems of Work and site rules.
• Ensuring compliance with Driver Hours Regulations and Working Time Directive.
