Job summary

Polypipe Building Products are seeking a Class 1 Driver for our Edlington (DN12) site, delivering across the UK and representing the company with professionalism.

You will drive company vehicles, perform pre‑shift checks, load and unload, complete paperwork and ensure deliveries arrive in first‑class condition. The role includes a 50‑hour week, nights out, and adherence to all safety and company policies.

Qualifications

• CPC valid and current
• LGV C+E Class 1 licence
• Digital Tachocard and up‑to‑date DQC
• Excellent verbal communication abilities
• Ability to communicate with customers and co‑workers
• Attention to detail and accuracy
• Ability to work under pressure
• Flexibility to cover varied hours
• Experience in customer facing roles
• Numerate and literate
• Manual handling involved in role
• Loading/unloading goods from vehicles
• Stacking empty pallets
• Coupling/uncoupling trailers
• Opening/closing vehicle curtains

Responsibilities

• Drive company vehicles and operate equipment safely and per policies
• Carry out vehicle, load and auxiliary equipment checks before operation
• Deliver goods to customer premises across the UK
• Meet all transport office instructions and sign documentation
• Debrief at base after shift end
• Attend driving skills assessments when requested
• Comply with vehicle security and standing instructions
• Wear company uniform and PPE on duty
• Ensure safe loading and securing of goods for travel
• Maintain clean driving cab and vehicle condition
• Report accidents per policy
• Complete required training for the role
• Adhere to all company policies and health and safety rules
• Notify transport manager of changes to driving status
• Maintain high health and safety standards
