Job summary

Specialist Recruitment Solutions (SRS) is recruiting Class 1 HGV Drivers for a transport and logistics company in Stalybridge, Greater Manchester. We seek reliable drivers for ongoing Monday–Friday day shifts with regular hours and steady work.

The role involves driving Class 1 curtain sider trailers, completing 4–7 deliveries per day, and securing loads to pallet network standards. Attractive hourly rates and consistent ongoing work on offer.

Qualifications

• A valid Class 1 HGV licence (Category C+E) and a Driver CPC card.
• Minimum 6 months holding a Class 1 licence.
• Valid Digital Tachograph Card and up-to-date tachograph knowledge.
• No more than 6 penalty points and no DR, DD or IN endorsements.

Responsibilities

• Driving Class 1 HGV vehicles with curtain sided trailers.
• Completing approximately 4 to 7 deliveries per day.
• Delivering palletised goods across Greater Manchester and surrounding areas.
• Working on established pallet network contracts.
• Safely securing loads using ratchet straps.
• Completing daily vehicle checks and reporting any defects.
• Following all driving hours and working time regulations.
• Maintaining a professional attitude when dealing with customers.

Specialist Recruitment Solutions (SRS) is currently recruiting Class 1 HGV Drivers for an excellent opportunity with an established transport and logistics company based in Stalybridge, Greater Manchester. We are looking for reliable and experienced Class 1 Drivers to work on an ongoing pallet network contract, delivering goods throughout Greater Manchester and the surrounding areas. This is a fantastic opportunity for HGV Class 1 Drivers looking for regular Monday to Friday day shifts, excellent hourly rates and consistent ongoing work. Our client will consider drivers who have held their Class 1 licence for a minimum of 6 months, making this an excellent opportunity for drivers looking to gain further experience within the transport industry.

The Class 1 Driver Role

• Driving Class 1 HGV vehicles with curtain sided trailers
• Completing approximately 4 to 7 deliveries per day
• Delivering palletised goods across Greater Manchester and surrounding areas
• Working on established pallet network contracts

• Ensuring deliveries are completed safely and efficiently
• Following all relevant driving hours and working time regulations
• Maintaining a professional attitude when dealing with customers
• Previous experience with curtain sided trailers and pallet network deliveries would be advantageous.

Class 1 Driver Pay Rates

£19.00 per hour basic PAYE rate

£21.29 per hour including holiday pay

With shifts averaging 10 to 11 hours per day, drivers can expect regular hours and excellent weekly earning potential. Based on a typical 50 to 55 hour working week, gross weekly earnings could be approximately £950 to £1,045 before holiday pay.

Class 1 Driver Working Hours

• Start times approximately 07:00
• Average shifts of 10 to 11 hours
• Regular day shifts
• Ongoing work available
• No regular weekend working required

Class 1 Driver Requirements

• A valid Class 1 HGV licence (Category C+E)
• A minimum of 6 months holding a Class 1 licence

• No active DR, DD or IN endorsement codes due to client insurance restrictions
• Knowledge and experience of using ratchet straps to secure loads safely
• A good understanding of drivers' hours and tachograph regulations
• A reliable, professional and flexible approach to work
• Previous Class 1 curtain sided trailer experience or pallet network experience would be beneficial.
