Job summary

Polar Speed UPS in Leighton Buzzard requires a Permanent Driver for pharmaceutical deliveries to GP surgeries, pharmacies, hospitals and wholesalers. You will drive a Class 2 vehicle ( CPC), ensure safe loading, and maintain vehicle temperatures while fulfilling EPOD/APOD paperwork and timely reporting of delays.

Working Monday to Friday, 40 hours per week with a 6am start; a UK DBS check and 3-year references are required for successful candidates.

Qualifications

• Class 2 driving licence with ideally no more than 3 points.
• Minimum 2 years driving experience in Class 2 driving, including motorways.
• Driver CPC qualification up to date.
• Previous relevant experience is advantageous.
• Excellent organisation skills with the ability to prioritise.
• Team player mentality with ability to work on own initiative.
• Must appreciate the need for maintaining confidentiality.
• Build effective working relationships with customers and other departments across the business/network.

Responsibilities

• Manage scanning of packages or pallets to delivery vehicle.
• Ensure safe and secure loading of consignments using appropriate equipment.
• Assist with loading and unloading deliveries.
• Maintain correct vehicle temperature at all times.
• Conduct vehicle safety checks including refrigeration unit.
• Keep cab and chambers clean and report defects.
• Adhere to UK & IRL HGV driving legislation.
• Ensure driver card is downloaded after each shift.
• Communicate delays or delivery failures promptly.
• Complete EPOD/APOD and driver manifest paperwork.

Job Location: Polar Speed UPS, Site 2, Chartmoor Road, Leighton Buzzard, Bedfordshire, LU7 4WG

Work Schedule: Monday to Friday - 40 hours per week, 6am start

Salary: £40,468 P/A £19.46 per hour Monday to Friday

London Allowance: £13 per day if applicable to route

Job Purpose and Key Responsibilities:

• Managing the scanning of packages or pallets to your delivery vehicle
• Ensuring the safe and secure loading of all consignments to your vehicle using the appropriate equipment
• Assisting with the loading and unloading of deliveries
• Ensuring the vehicle is always kept at the correct temperature
• Conducting vehicle safety checks as outlined in documentation provided including the refrigeration unit on the vehicle
• Maintaining the cleanliness of both cab and chambers
• Reporting all defects as per the defect reporting purpose
• Adherence to all legislation governing HGV driving in the UK & IRL
• Ensuring the drivers card is downloaded upon completion of each shift
• Always demonstrating a professional and safe driving competency
• Always be smart and presentable
• Excellent communication and customer service skills
• Delivering and collecting of pharmaceutical consignments to GP Surgeries, Retail Pharmacies, Hospitals, and Wholesalers
• Communicating all operational delays or delivery failures
• Correct completion of EPOD/APOD, driver manifest, collection and refusal paperwork

Specialist Knowledge and Requirements:

• Minimum category Class 2 drivers licence with ideally no more than 3 points
• Minimum 2 years driving experience in Class 2 driving, including motorways
• Driver certificate of Professional Competence (CPC) qualification in date
• Previous relevant experience is advantageous
• Excellent organisation skills with the ability to prioritize
• Team player mentality with ability to work on own initiative
