Job summary

HL Services (London) Ltd is recruiting for a Class 1 (CE) Container Driver to join our Grays, Essex operation on an ongoing ad hoc basis. You will collect containers from Tilbury and Purfleet and deliver to the client site, with about 5 container movements per shift.

Shifts run Monday to Sunday, typically 10 hours. Pay is weekly via PAYE with rate bands for days, nights and weekends. Induction is paid after completing the fifth shift.

Qualifications

• Valid Category CE (Class 1) driving licence with minimum 2 years' experience.
• Driver CPC qualification card is required.
• Digital Tachograph Card is required.
• Insurance restricts candidates to age 25 or over.
• No more than 6 penalty points (minor offences only).
• Good understanding of UK driving regulations.
• Professional and reliable attitude.
• Good level of physical fitness.

Responsibilities

• Collecting and delivering containers safely and efficiently.
• Coupling and uncoupling trailers.
• Carrying out daily vehicle and trailer safety checks.
• Completing all relevant paperwork and following health and safety procedures.
• On-site induction is paid after successful completion of fifth shift.

Job description

Class 1 (CE) Container Driver

Location: Grays, Essex

We are currently recruiting experienced Class 1 (Category CE) Drivers to join our client based in Grays, Essex on an ongoing ad hoc basis.

The Role

Your main duties will involve collecting shipping containers from Tilbury and Purfleet ports and delivering them to the client's site. The work consists of short-distance runs, typically completing around 5 container movements per shift.

This is a straightforward driving role with no heavy manual handling. Responsibilities include:

• Collecting and delivering containers safely and efficiently.
• Coupling and uncoupling trailers.
• Carrying out daily vehicle and trailer safety checks.
• Completing all relevant paperwork and following health and safety procedures.
• Previous container experience is desirable but not essential, as full site training will be provided.

Induction

Successful candidates will be required to complete a site induction before starting work.

Please note: The induction day will be paid once you have successfully completed your fifth shift with the company.

Candidate Requirements

To be considered, you must have:

• A valid Category CE (Class 1) Driving Licence with a minimum of 2 years' experience.

Hours of Work

Shifts available Monday to Sunday.

• Average shift length: 10 hours.
• Day shifts: Start from 6:00am.
• Night shifts: Start from 6:00pm.
• Ongoing ad hoc work - this is not a permanent position.

Pay Rates (PAYE)

All pay is made weekly, every Friday, directly into your bank account.

ShiftPay Rate

• Monday to Friday - Days: £17.00 - £18.50 per hour
• Monday to Friday - Nights: £18.00 - £19.50 per hour
• Weekend - Days: £18.00 - £19.50 per hour
• Weekend - Nights: £19.00 - £20.50 per hour
