Job summary

AWI Civitas is seeking reliable HGV Class 1 (C+E) drivers for ongoing container haulage and intermodal freight operations based in Tilbury. You will operate on routes via A13, A1089 and M25, with 8–10 paid hours per shift and overtime opportunities. Immediate start after site induction and driving assessment.

Responsibilities include daily vehicle checks, container transfers, and strict adherence to drivers' hours rules. Port knowledge and a clean record with limited endorsements are preferred.

Qualifications

• Valid UK HGV Class 1 (C+E) licence and Driver CPC.
• Digital Tachograph card required.
• Experience with container haulage and port operations preferred.
• Clean driving record with max 6 endorsement points.

Responsibilities

• Perform daily vehicle checks and report defects.
• Haul containers between ports and hubs nationwide.
• Adhere to EU Drivers' Hours and Tachograph rules.
• Manage digital terminal passes and container handovers (EIR).
• Ensure safe, punctual operations with 8–10 paid hours per shift and overtime when available.

We are is seeking reliable and experienced HGV Class 1 (Category C+E) Drivers for ongoing container haulage and intermodal freight operations based in Tilbury and DP World London Gateway. Perfectly positioned with direct access via the A13, A1089, and M25 (J30/J31), this role offers top-tier hourly rates, consistent port and trunking runs, and long-term stability with temp-to-perm pathways for dedicated drivers.

Hours: 45 – 50 hours per week (Day shifts from 05:00, night trunks, and 4-on/4-off rotas available)

Start Date: Immediate starts available following site registration and driving assessment

Safe Transport: Container logistics, port-to-hub transfers, and nationwide skeleton trailer freight movement

Vehicle Checks: Conducting daily walk-around safety inspections and reporting vehicle/trailer defects

Compliance: Ensuring correct container pinning, weight compliance, and strict adherence to EU Drivers' Hours and Tachograph rules

Documentation: Managing digital terminal passes, customs handovers, and container interchange receipts (EIR)

Requirements

Licence & Cards: Valid UK HGV Class 1 (Category C+E) licence, Driver CPC qualification card, and Digital Tachograph card

Port Knowledge: Prior container/skeletal trailer experience or London Gateway / Port of Tilbury card preferred (site induction provided for strong candidates)

Clean Record: Maximum 6 endorsement points (no DR, DD, or IN convictions)

Professional Attitude: Punctual, safety-conscious, and compliant with dock and terminal speed limits

Working Hours: Typical shifts run 8 to 10 paid hours, with regular overtime opportunities available.
