We are is seeking reliable and experienced HGV Class 1 (Category C+E) Drivers for ongoing container haulage and intermodal freight operations based in Tilbury and DP World London Gateway. Perfectly positioned with direct access via the A13, A1089, and M25 (J30/J31), this role offers top-tier hourly rates, consistent port and trunking runs, and long-term stability with temp-to-perm pathways for dedicated drivers.
Hours: 45 – 50 hours per week (Day shifts from 05:00, night trunks, and 4-on/4-off rotas available)
Start Date: Immediate starts available following site registration and driving assessment
Safe Transport: Container logistics, port-to-hub transfers, and nationwide skeleton trailer freight movement
Vehicle Checks: Conducting daily walk-around safety inspections and reporting vehicle/trailer defects
Compliance: Ensuring correct container pinning, weight compliance, and strict adherence to EU Drivers' Hours and Tachograph rules
Documentation: Managing digital terminal passes, customs handovers, and container interchange receipts (EIR)
Licence & Cards: Valid UK HGV Class 1 (Category C+E) licence, Driver CPC qualification card, and Digital Tachograph card
Port Knowledge: Prior container/skeletal trailer experience or London Gateway / Port of Tilbury card preferred (site induction provided for strong candidates)
Clean Record: Maximum 6 endorsement points (no DR, DD, or IN convictions)
Professional Attitude: Punctual, safety-conscious, and compliant with dock and terminal speed limits
Working Hours: Typical shifts run 8 to 10 paid hours, with regular overtime opportunities available.
