Job summary

Gregory Distribution Ltd in Cullompton is seeking a Casual Driver to join our team. You will carry out trunking operations from our Cullompton depot to hubs in Ernesettle, Mitchell, or Southampton, using a temperature-controlled trailer to deliver chilled and ambient loads.

This casual, zero-hours role has no guaranteed hours. Competitive hourly rates include £19.05 base, £21.80 for weekend hours, plus £2.75 night premium. You must hold a UK Class 1 CE Licence and DCPC/Digital Tachograph Card.

Qualifications

• Must hold a UK Class 1 CE Licence.
• Current DCPC Card and Digital Tachograph Driver Card.
• Previous experience delivering to convenience stores is advantageous, but not essential.
• A strong focus on customer service, with the ability to communicate clearly and courteously.
• The ability to work to tight schedules while maintaining high safety standards.

Responsibilities

• Ensure goods are loaded and secured correctly to prevent shifting or damage. Use straps, nets, and other securing devices as needed.

• Stay in regular communication with the transport team to provide updates on your progress and ensure our customers' expectations are met.
• Participate in regular training sessions to stay ahead with the latest industry standards and best practices.

About the Role

Essential Skills and Qualifications

• A positive, team-oriented attitude and the ability to work independently when required.
• Good geographical knowledge and route planning awareness.

Competitive Salary: Hourly rate of £19.05 per hour. This includes holiday pay. For hours worked on a Saturday or Sunday, you will receive £21.80 per hour. This includes holiday pay. PLUS for all hours worked between 21:00hrs & 04:00hrs, you will receive an additional £2.75 per hour.

Shift Hours: Various shifts and start times available. Hours offered on a casual, as‑required basis. No guaranteed or fixed weekly hours.
