Role: Claims Handler – Commercial Insurance
Location: Morley, Leeds
Salary: £30,000 - £32,000 pa - depending on experience
Hours: Monday-Friday, 8.45-5.15pm
Hybrid: 1 day a week from home

Our Client:
Our client, an independent, innovative, and results-driven Commercial Insurance company based in Morley, is seeking an experienced Claims Handler to join their busy claims team. This is an exciting opportunity offering strong career progression prospects.

As the Claims Handler you will be responsible for managing and processing insurance claims, handling client communications, and ensuring timely resolution of claims.

Key Responsibilities of the Claims Handler:

  • Acknowledge all new claims promptly to clients and insurers, keeping clients informed throughout the process and ensuring the best possible outcomes.
  • Provide claims data and reports to the broking team and clients as needed.
  • Develop and maintain a strong working knowledge of the Acturis system.
  • Conduct on-site investigations when required to support claim presentations to insurers.
  • Manage complex claims in accordance with established company procedures.
  • Attend client meetings to present and discuss claims information.
  • Maintain an efficient diary system for tracking and progressing all claims, ensuring timely follow-up.
  • Produce management information and claims reports when requested.
  • Perform other duties as assigned by management on an ad-hoc basis.
  • Proactively manage personal Continuing Professional Development (CPD) to stay current with industry knowledge and skills.
  • Handle a range of claims including Employers’ Liability, Public Liability, Property, and Motor (when required), meeting or exceeding service expectations.
  • Carry out desktop investigations to assess policy coverage and determine legal liability, ensuring fair and accurate outcomes.

Skills & Experience required for the role:
  • Proven experience in handling commercial insurance claims, with strong acumen and a solid understanding of insurance claims processes.
  • Strong understanding of relevant legal frameworks, regulations and general principles of civil liability
  • Excellent analytical and investigative skills with a keen eye for detail
  • Comfortable reviewing and interpreting complex documents, contracts, and written material
  • Familiarity with statutory obligations, contract terms, and general business compliance standards
  • A genuine commitment to providing exceptional client support and service
  • Proficient in Microsoft Word and Excel; experience with CRM or workflow systems is a plus
  • Working towards or holding a relevant professional qualification (desirable but not essential)
  • Highly organised, with excellent time management and the ability to prioritise competing demands
  • Positive, proactive mindset with strong problem-solving abilities and a calm approach under pressure
  • Confident communicator with strong written and verbal skills, able to engage effectively with people at all levels
