Job summary

Lawes Consulting Group in Glasgow is seeking an experienced Claims Handler to support the professional claims team. You will manage from first notification to settlement, delivering excellent client service in line with FCA requirements.

The role covers Commercial, Private and Fleet claims, with hybrid working options and a focus on accurate, timely case progression and strong insurer relationships.

Qualifications

• Experience handling Commercial or private client claims end to end.
• Clear, articulate communication skills.
• Strong writing ability for clear correspondence.
• Excellent attention to detail and accuracy.
• Ability to prioritise and follow processes.
• Strong customer service skills with client-insurer relationship-building.

Responsibilities

• Handle all classes of Commercial, Private and Fleet claims from first notification to settlement.
• Take first notification of loss and set up new claim files.
• Validate claims against policy cover and determine liability.
• Liaise with insurers, motor claims partners and uninsured loss recovery providers.
• Ensure compliance with FCA regulation and conduct procedures.
• Manage caseload within service level agreements.
• Log and handle complaints per regulatory and company requirements.
• Provide professional, courteous client communications.

Location: Glasgow (hybrid working available)

The opportunity

We’re recruiting an experienced Claims Handler to join our client’s professional claims team, supporting their Commercial, private and fleet clients. You’ll manage claims from first notification through to settlement and give clients excellent service in line with FCA requirements.

Key responsibilities

• Handle all classes of Commercial, Private and Fleet claims from first notification to settlement
• Take first notification of loss, set up new claim files and validate claims against policy cover
• Discuss and determine liability, and advise clients on how their policy may respond and how to mitigate their loss
• Liaise with insurers, motor claims partners and uninsured loss recovery providers
• Make sure claims follow policy conditions, and escal to senior management where needed
• Manage your caseload accurately and within agreed service level agreements
• Ensure all activity complies with FCA regulation and internal conduct procedures
• Identify, log and handle complaints in line with regulatory and company requirements
• Handle all queries professionally and give clients outstanding customer service

What you’ll need

• Previous experience handling Commercial or private client claims end to end
• Confident, articulate communication skills
• Good IT skills and the ability to write clear, accurate and courteous correspondence
• Strong attention to detail and a high level of accuracy
• The ability to prioritise and follow processes effectively
• Excellent customer service skills, with the ability to build strong relationships with clients and insurers
