About the Role

This is an unusual opportunity and falls outside of the usual remit of a Reinsurance Claims Expert. We are looking for someone with a multi-disciplined skill set which will include overseeing high value UK primary insurance losses in the Casualty, Motor, and Disease areas, expertise in managing and overseeing TPA's and MGA's, handling reinsurance recoveries, and a willingness to be involved in all aspects of retrospective transactions. Additionally, a desire to learn about Reinsurance as this role will likely evolve over time.
The position reports to the Head of Claims, Reinsurance, London.

Key Responsibilities

• Oversight of high value UK primary losses in Casualty, Motor, and Disease, ensuring high-quality claims handling from our partners. Assess policy coverage, conduct fact investigations, evaluate losses, and ensure appropriate claim resolution. Set and maintain reserves in accordance with guidelines.
• Ensure claims handling partners (TPA's & MGA's) act within their contractual scope.
• Maintain accurate and up-to-date internal data and records.
• Inform Claims Management and internal stakeholders of loss potential and material claim developments.
• Provide insights about your claim portfolio to Claims Management and other teams, including Reserving / Actuarial teams.
• Stay updated on legal/regulatory developments affecting your claims portfolio.
• Handle reinsurance recoveries from other reinsurers.
• Be connected and engaged with the [re]insurance marketplace.

About You

We seek a curious, energetic, and confident problem solver who is proactive and eager to contribute across all areas of Reinsurance. The ideal candidate can work independently and collaboratively within the claims team, and closely with departments such as transactions and reserving.

• University degree or equivalent insurance/legal work experience (professional qualifications or willingness to pursue them).
• Solid claims or insurance industry experience, preferably in primary insurance.
• Strong skills in coverage analysis, investigation, loss evaluation, and claim valuation. Excellent communication skills.
• Good understanding of underwriting and other insurance functions and their interactions.
