Job summary

The Medical Protection Society Ltd (MPS) seeks an experienced Claims Assistant to join our dynamic Claims Handling team. You will work with Claims Managers and Solicitors to deliver exceptional service to our members, healthcare professionals worldwide, managing a small caseload and supporting stakeholders daily by phone and email.

This role offers progression for someone with legal or claims handling experience, with opportunities to develop case handling skills in a fast-moving environment.

Qualifications

• Law degree or claims handling experience.
• Excellent attention to detail and accuracy.
• Able to prioritise and manage workload effectively.
• Warm and empathetic telephone manner.
• Ability to work independently and as part of a team.
• Confidential handling of sensitive information.
• Knowledge of Civil Procedure Rules desirable; experience in Personal Injury/Clinical/Negligence is a plus.

Responsibilities

• Provide tailored day-to-day support for members, including vulnerable clients, via phone and email.
• Maintain updates on the case handling system and communicate with external solicitors and stakeholders.
• Draft legal correspondence and procedural letters at short notice.
• Review large volumes of documentation to identify urgent matters and escalate as needed.
