Job summary

The Travelers Indemnity Company is seeking an experienced claims professional to handle market-leading professional indemnity claims with a focus on solicitors. The role collaborates with the Professional Risks Claim team to investigate, evaluate, negotiate settlements and manage coverage issues.

You will work closely with underwriters and risk management, developing strong client relationships and ensuring high-quality claims handling while supporting the wider business initiatives.

Qualifications

• Legal degree or equivalent required.
• Some prior insurance-related activity experience (paralegal, insurance operations, broker).
• ACII or equivalent insurance certification (preferred or required).

Responsibilities

• Provide market-leading claim service, coordinating with the Professional Risks Claim team to deliver and enhance the claim offering.
• Open new claims and set reserves; conduct early investigations on coverage, liability and quantum; provide legal assistance as needed.
• Negotiate claim settlements and communicate on coverage.
• Monitor vendors to ensure market-leading, cost-effective service for insured and company.
• Liaise with underwriters and risk management; promote Travelers' interests with other business areas.
• Collaborate with team members and participate in project work.
• Perform other duties as assigned.

What Is the Opportunity?

Under general supervision provides market leading expert claim handling in areas of investigation, evaluation, negotiation and resolution of assigned claims in accordance with the Company's policies, procedures, best practices and controls at all times on claims arising from Solicitors and other Professional Indemnity lines of business. This job does not manage others.

What Will You Do?

• Provides market leading claim service working closely with the Professional Risks Claim team and the broader business to deliver and enhance the claim offering.
• Opens new claims and sets reserves; carries out early, appropriate investigations in respect of policy coverage, liability and quantum and provides legal assistance as necessary.
• Negotiates settlement of claims and communicates on cover.
• Ensures that vendors provide a market leading, cost effective service to both insured and the company by continually monitoring their performance, cost and quality.
• Maintains a close working liaison with underwriters and risk management, and where appropriate, promotes the interests of Travelers by working with other business areas.
• Works as a team member providing such support as required by other members of the team and fully participates in individual and shared project work.
• Perform other duties as assigned.

• Thorough experience and sound judgment handling Financial lines of business with a strong emphasis on Solicitors professional negligence claims.

What is a Must Have?

• Legal Degree / LLB (or equivalent).
• Some prior insurance related activity experience (e.g. paralegal, insurance operations, insurance broker).
