Job summary

Travelers is seeking a Claims Specialist to handle Financial lines, with a focus on Solicitors professional negligence claims, in a role that involves investigation, evaluation, negotiation and settlement. You will work with the Professional Risks Claim team to deliver market-leading service, manage reserves, and collaborate across underwriters and risk management.

The ideal candidate will have a legal degree (LLB) and ACII or equivalent certification, plus prior insurance-related experience.

Responsibilities

• Provide market leading claim handling in investigations, evaluation, negotiation and resolution.
• Open new claims, set reserves, and conduct investigations into coverage, liability and quantum.
• Negotiate settlements and communicate on cover.
• Ensure vendors provide cost-effective services and monitor performance.
• Collaborate with underwriters, risk management and other business areas.
• Work as part of a team and participate in project work.

What Is the Opportunity? Under general supervision provides market leading expert claim handling in areas of investigation, evaluation, negotiation and resolution of assigned claims in accordance with the Company's policies, procedures, best practices and controls at all times on claims arising from Solicitors and other Professional Indemnity lines of business. This job does not manage others.

What Will You Do?

• Provides market leading claim service working closely with the Professional Risks Claim team and the broader business to deliver and enhance the claim offering.
• Opens new claims and sets reserves; carries out early, appropriate investigations in respect of policy coverage, liability and quantum and provides legal assistance as necessary.
• Negotiates settlement of claims and communicates on cover.
• Ensures that vendors provide a market leading, cost effective service to both insured and the company by continually monitoring their performance, cost and quality.
• Maintains a close working liaison with underwriters and risk management, and where appropriate, promotes the interests of Travelers by working with other business areas.
• Works as a team member providing such support as required by other members of the team and fully participates in individual and shared project work.
• Perform other duties as assigned.

What is a Must Have?

• Legal Degree / LLB (or equivalent).
• Some prior insurance related activity experience (e.g. paralegal, insurance operations, insurance broker).
