Job summary

Randstad CPE is recruiting a Project Manager to lead the site-based delivery of a GBP65m two-stage educational development in Carmarthen, West Wales. You will own delivery from pre-construction through to completion on a live campus, overseeing heavy civils works, earthworks, RC structures, and strict safety and commercial controls.

This permanent role with a Tier 1 main contractor offers a GBP75k base salary plus car allowance or company car, pension, healthcare and a performance bonus.

Qualifications

• Proven track record as a Project Manager in civil contracting.
• Hands-on delivery of heavy civils, earthworks and RC structures.
• Degree or higher in Civil Engineering or Construction Management.

Responsibilities

• Drive day-to-day site operations, subcontractors, engineering teams and safety.
• Oversee civil deliverables including earthworks, drainage, foundations and RC frames.
• Coordinate with client teams, campus stakeholders and design partners.
• Maintain commercial control, progress tracking, QA and reporting.

About The Role

An outstanding opportunity has arisen for an experienced Project Manager to lead the site:based delivery of a major GBP65m, two:stage educational development in Carmarthen, West Wales. Delivering a state:of:the:art series of new college facilities within an operational campus environment, you will take ownership from pre:construction through to full completion. The package involves extensive heavy civils, major earthworks, and reinforced concrete (RC) structures. This is a full:time, permanent position joining a Tier 1 main contractor with a strong pipeline of upcoming works in the region.

Key Responsibilities

• Drive day:to:day site operations, managing subcontractor packages, engineering teams, and site safety.
• Oversee critical civil engineering deliverables, including major earthworks cut:and:fill, drainage, foundations, and RC frame construction.
• Interface closely with client teams, campus stakeholders, and design partners to ensure seamless delivery within a live educational environment.
• Maintain strict commercial control, progress tracking, quality assurance, and project reporting.

Key Requirements

• Industry Background: Proven track record as a Project Manager within the Civil Engineering Contracting sector.
• Technical Experience: Demonstrable hands:on experience delivering heavy civils, earthworks packages, and RC structures.
• Location: Candidates based in or within realistic commuting distance of Carmarthen, Swansea, or West Wales are strongly preferred.
• Qualifications: Relevant Degree in Civil Engineering / Construction Management, CSCS Black Card, SMSTS, and First Aid.
