Job summary

Lanes Group is recruiting for a drainage operative to support CCTV & Jetting and Civils across UU network. You will maintain site safety, complete groundworks, operate excavators, and ensure compliance with method statements and permits.

Ideal candidates hold NPORS/NRSWA, EUSR Water Hygiene, and relevant safety certifications, and possess a full UK driving license. This is a on-site role requiring diligence and teamwork across multiple sites.

Qualifications

• Full UK driving license is required.
• NPORS and Banksman qualifications are essential.
• NRSWA and EUSR Water Hygiene knowledge preferred.

Responsibilities

• Maintain excellent customer service and communication.
• Adhere to absence reporting procedures.
• Update site documentation on electronic tablets.
• Work with approved method statements and safe systems of work.
• Conduct site-specific risk assessments and discuss changes with team supervisor.
• Operate machinery and tools safely to assist with tasks.
• Follow health and safety regulations for a safe working environment.
• Perform daily vehicle checks to ensure roadworthiness.
• Report issues or hazards per company procedures.
• Carry out groundwork tasks such as trenching, pipe laying, and surface prep.
• Install and maintain pumping systems and drainage works.
• Read Drainage plans and ensure live sites to avoid penalties with highways permits.

Sapphire Utility Solutions, a Lanes Group Company specialise in multiple divisions.

United Utilities

operates across a number of contracts across our business, predominantly wastewater network services as part of the AMP 7 period plan.

The Team support reactive and planned maintenance across the CCTV & Jetting and Civils teams, further supported by our in house Traffic Management Division and Capital Projects covering the entire UU network.

Key Responsibilities

• Maintain great customer service and communication

• Updating and completing site documentation using electronic tablet
• Ensure all works are carried out in line with approved method statements and safe system of work.
• Carry out site specific risk assessments and discuss any changes or amendments with team member and site supervisor
• Operate machinery and tools safely and efficiently to assist with various tasks
• Follow health and safety regulations to maintain a safe working environment.
• Perform daily vehicle checks and maintenance to ensure roadworthiness
• Report any issues or hazards by following company procedures
• Ensure all works are carried out in line with approved method statements.
• Maintain equipment and tools to ensure they are in good working condition.
• Ensuring on and off sites are live to avoid any penalties with highways permits
• Wearing and maintaining in good condition any Personal Protective Equipment provided for your protection and bringing to your supervisor’s attention any defects or shortcomings with the equipment.
• Carry out groundwork tasks such as digging trenches, laying pipes, spot repairs and preparing surfaces for construction.
• Install and maintain over-pumping systems
• Maintain safe excavations with installation of ground support
• Be able to read and understand Drainage plans
• Recording photographic evidence of jobs performed and completed
• Troubleshoot issues related to drainage systems and provide effective solutions
