Qualifications

  • Full UK driving license required.
  • NPORS certification and Banksman competence preferred.
  • Multiple health and safety credentials (First Aid, NRSWA, Water Hygiene, Asbestos Awareness) are desirable.
  • Slinger and Signaller, SSSTS/SMSTS and related heavy equipment qualifications are advantageous.
  • Proficiency with drainage and excavation safety practices is expected.

Responsibilities

  • Maintain great customer service and communication.
  • Adhere to company absence reporting procedure.
  • Update and complete site documentation using electronic tablet.
  • Ensure all works follow approved method statements and safe systems of work.
  • Carry out site specific risk assessments and discuss changes with team member and site supervisor.
  • Operate machinery and tools safely to assist with tasks.
  • Follow health and safety regulations to maintain a safe working environment.
  • Perform daily vehicle checks and maintenance to ensure roadworthiness.
  • Report issues or hazards by following company procedures.
  • Maintain equipment and tools in good working condition.
  • Ensure on/off sites are live to avoid penalties with highways permits.
  • Wear and maintain PPE and report defects to supervisor.
  • Carry out groundwork tasks such as digging trenches, laying pipes, and surface preparation.
  • Install and maintain over-pumping systems; manage safe excavations with ground support.
  • Read and understand drainage plans; record photographic evidence of work performed.
  • Troubleshoot drainage system issues and provide effective solutions.

Department

Sapphire Utility Solutions, a Lanes Group Company specialise in multiple divisions.

United Utilities

operates across a number of contracts across our business, predominantly wastewater network services as part of the AMP 7 period plan.

The Team support reactive and planned maintenance across the CCTV & Jetting and Civils teams, further supported by our in house Traffic Management Division and Capital Projects covering the entire UU network.

Key Responsibilities
  • Maintain great customer service and communication

  • Updating and completing site documentation using electronic tablet
  • Ensure all works are carried out in line with approved method statements and safe system of work.
  • Carry out site specific risk assessments and discuss any changes or amendments with team member and site supervisor
  • Operate machinery and tools safely and efficiently to assist with various tasks
  • Follow health and safety regulations to maintain a safe working environment.
  • Perform daily vehicle checks and maintenance to ensure roadworthiness
  • Report any issues or hazards by following company procedures
  • Ensure all works are carried out in line with approved method statements.
  • Maintain equipment and tools to ensure they are in good working condition.
  • Ensuring on and off sites are live to avoid any penalties with highways permits
  • Wearing and maintaining in good condition any Personal Protective Equipment provided for your protection and bringing to your supervisor’s attention any defects or shortcomings with the equipment.
  • Carry out groundwork tasks such as digging trenches, laying pipes, spot repairs and preparing surfaces for construction.
  • Install and maintain over-pumping systems
  • Maintain safe excavations with installation of ground support
  • Be able to read and understand Drainage plans
  • Recording photographic evidence of jobs performed and completed
  • Troubleshoot issues related to drainage systems and provide effective solutions
